Description
1994 Leaf is a 440-card set released in two series of 220 cards. The design looks similar to that of the previous year. In order to account for team uniform and logo changes, players from the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros were held out of the first series. A limited number of players from the San Francisco Giants are featured in the first series because of minor modifications to the team's uniforms.
New for 1994 were randomly seeded "Super Packs" containing complete insert sets.

Jumbos: 24 packs per box, 12 cards per pack.

To celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the reintroduction of Leaf Baseball, a reprint of Frank Thomas' 1990 Leaf rookie card was randomly inserted into Series One Hobby boxes. The card has a special 5th Anniversary foil stamp differentiating it from the original.

This 30-card set contains 14 players and a "Wild Card" from each league whom Leaf projected to be 1994 MVP hopefuls. These unnumbered cards were randomly inserted in all Series Two packs. If the player appearing on the card was named his league's MVP, the card could be redeemed for a 5" x 7" Frank Thomas card serial-numbered to 20,000 and would then be entered into a drawing for one of 5000 serial-numbered MVP Contenders Gold sets. If none of the 14 selected players were named MVP, then the "Wild Card" would be declared the winner. The backs on the pack-inserted cards contain all the rules and read "1 of 10,000" while the backs on the Gold cards have a brief bio and a serial number.
Despite the truncated season, Frank Thomas and Jeff Bagwell were both awarded their respective league's MVP. The expiration for redeeming Thomas and Bagwell cards was Jan. 19, 1995.
