2001 Upper Deck Evolution
Description
2001 Upper Deck Evolution is a one-off, 120-card set released in October, 2001. The last 30 cards make up a Prospects subset with each card serial-numbered to 2250 copies.
The product was intended to showoff the upperdeckdigital.com website, and features inserts that can "evolve" into game-used cards when a code is entered. This was not received well by collections and the upperdeckdigital.com website went dark a year later.
Distribution
24 packs per box, five cards per pack (MSRP: $2.99). Hobby only.

Ichiro Suzuki All-Star Game
This card of Mariners rookie sensation Ichiro Suzuki was intended to be distributed at the 2001 All-Star Game FanFest, which happened to be in Seattle. The card is done in the style of the 2001 Upper Deck Baseball flagship, but with the 2001 All-Star Game logo on the front stamped in either bronze, silver, or gold foil. All three cards are sequentially-numbered "UD51" on the reverse.
It is believed that, since Fleer "won" the right to produce an Ichiro card for the 2001 FanFest, Upper Deck was not allowed to distribute this card at that event and saved it for a weaker product that it felt could use a rookie-year Ichiro insert.
