1993 Donruss Elite Dominators is a 20-card set, offered exclusively for sale on the Shop at Home television network.

1993 Cardtoons is a 95-card parody set intended for release in 1993, but not issued until over a year later. This completely unlicensed set uses cartoon caricatures on its fronts to parody then-active MLB players. The backs carry comical "career highlights" within silver-colored panels on the left sides and team logo caricatures on the right sides.

In a series of programs broadcast December 8-13, 1993, viewers were offered the opportunity to purchase a factory-sealed box of either 1993 Donruss Series One or Series Two, which included one Elite Dominator card produced especially for the promotion, shrink-wrapped directly to the box. Each box retailed for $99 plus $6 for postage and handling.
+
This product was the subject of a seven-year long court battle between the producers and the MLB Players Association -- a case eventually won by Cardtoons.

5000 serial-numbered sets were produced and half of the cards for Nolan Ryan, Juan Gonzalez, Paul Molitor, and Don Mattingly were signed by the player. The entire print run of 100,000 cards were reportedly purchased by the Shop at Home network and were to be offered periodically over the network.

2017 Topps Archives is a 300-card set, released May 31st. As has been this brand's trademark, one third of the base set is done in the style of the 1960 Topps set (which was the basis of 2009 Topps Heritage), one third as 1982 Topps (which was used as one of the designs in 2013 Topps Archives), and the final third 1992 Topps.

2018 Topps Tier One was released May 23rd -- delayed one week from its original street dateAs usual, all cards are either autographs or relics and there is no base set in the traditional sense.  Each three-card box will contain two autographs and a relic.

Topps' initial solicitation for 2017 Archives promised "wide-ranging improvements," and one such improvement (and a major one, if that) was the subtraction of "high-number" short-prints to the base set.  In the previous two years, Archives was solicited as a 300 card base set without short-prints, only for Topps to deliver a final product with SPed base cards (30 in 2015 and ten in 2016).  Another "addition-by-subtraction" improvement was the elimination of a celebrity/movie tie-in; replaced by a 23-card reprint insert of all of Derek Jeter's Topps Baseball base cards.

Each 24-pack Hobby box will yield two autographs and two Derek Jeter Retrospective inserts.

2017 Topps Inception is a 139-card set released May 19th, 2017. The product has been reconfigured from the previous year's product, yet still maintains the heavily Photoshop filtered look and feel. As the name suggests, the product has been re-branded from Bowman to Topps, and with that rebranding is a focus away from rookies and prospects and towards current Major League players.

2018 Diamond Kings is a 150-card set released by Panini on April 11th. Each pack will contain an insert and each 12-pack Hobby box will yield a pair of short-printed base cards and a pair of base variations; three framed parallels, and two autographed and/or game-used cards.

A conventional base set has been added, and includes a 39-card Rookie Autographs subset. In addition, the number of autographs per box has been reduced from five to only one.

2018 Topps Gypsy Queen is a 320-card set released March 21th. Each 24-pack Hobby box will yield two autographs and an oversized GQ Reflections box topper.

2017 Honus Bonus Baseball is a 500-card trading card game.  The set is being produced and distributed by Rittenhouse Archives, a noted producer of non-sports cards.  This is Rittenhouse's first baseball set, but not their first sports card product as they have had the WNBA license for a few years.  Due to their exclusive license with Topps, Honus Bonus is NOT licensed by MLB Properties and does not have logos.  The product is licensed by the MLBPA.

Each card will have a unique code (concealed by a silver "scratcher" bar) that, when entered onto the Honus Bonus website, can be used as part of an on-line fantasy baseball game.

2018 Topps Opening Day was released March 14th. As usual, the base set is a rehash of 200 cards from the Topps flagship. Each pack will yield one insert -- which are original to the product.
2017 Topps Gypsy Queen is a 320-card set. In response to lagging sales and collector interest, Topps has reconfigured the Gypsy Queen brand at a lower price point. Gone are the one-per-pack mini parallels, as well as the two-per-Hobby box Relics -- although each 24-pack Hobby box will continue to yield two autographs.  The ten-card "mini-box," which had been a Gypsy Queen staple, is also replaced by an oversized GQ Reflections box topper.

Set of the Month

1993 Cardtoons is a 95-card parody set intended for release in 1993, but not issued until over a year later. This completely unlicensed set uses cartoon caricatures on its fronts to parody then-active MLB players. The backs carry comical "career highlights" within silver-colored panels on the left sides and team logo caricatures on the right sides.

This product was the subject of a seven-year long court battle between the producers and the MLB Players Association -- a case eventually won by Cardtoons.

2018 Donruss is a 270-card set released by Panini America on March 7th. Each Hobby box will yield three autographs/game-used cards.

2018 Topps Heritage was officially released on February 28, 2018. This is the 18th year of Heritage. The set consists of 500 base cards, 100 of which are short-printed. Each hobby box will yield a relic, an auto or a relic/auto. Due to the inclusion of Shohei Ohtani in hobby-only packs, the initial price of hobby boxes and packs was higher than previous years ($75-$125/box).

2018 Topps Series One was released January 30th. For the fourth consecutive year, Series One base set will consist of 350 cards. And for the third straight year, the set will have a borderless design.

Once again, each 36-pack Hobby box will yield either an autograph or a Relic, while Hobby Jumbo boxes will one of each plus a manufactured "Relic."

Each factory set, which is packaged in a wooden case contains the following:

 • One complete 50-card set -- each serial-numbered to 87 copies.
 • One complete 65-card MLB Moments Sketches set -- also serial-numbered to 87 copies.
 • One of the 65 sketches used to create the Sketch Reproductions OR a one-of-a-kind sketched baseball.

 • One invitation to a VIP party in Atlanta, featuring an appearance by Hank Aaron in 2018.

2017 Bowman Draft is a 200-card set scheduled for release December 6th. Once again, the brand will feature both 2017 MLB Draft picks and assorted prospects.

Also, just like last year, the conventional Hobby waxbox has been shelved in favor of Jumbo and Super Jumbo boxes.

2017 Panini Elite Extra Edition was released December 6th, 2017. The set features players selected in the 2017 MLB Draft and other prominent prospects. New for 2017 are prospects from the Dominican League.

Each five-pack Hobby box will yield six autographs, two game-used cards, a Future Threads Silhouette Autograph, and either another autograph or game-used card.

2017 Panini Chronicles is a 150-card set released November 22nd. Each pack will contain either a serial-numbered card, an autograph, or a game-used card.
