[[2016 Topps Archives Signature Series All-Star Edition]] was released exclusively to Hobby outlets August 30th, 2016. [[2018 Topps Gold Label]] is a 300-card set released October 12th. As with the Gold Label sets of the late-90s, the set features 100 different players on three different "Class" cards: 1, 2, and 3. Unfortunately, the holo-foil plastic cardstock the brand was known for in the 90s was not used -- regular paper stock was used instead.

Rather than the plastic "slabs" Topps had used in the past (in brands like Topps Tribute and eTopps), each card is encased in an off-the-shelf BCW Mini Snap magnetic holder with a sticker sealing it shut. Since One Touch holders can only fit standard-sized (2 1/2" X 3 1/2") cards, all pre-1957 Topps cards (which measure 2 5/8" X 3 3/4") used in this product are encased in top-loaders.
+
Each box will yield one Framed Autograph.

As the subtitle of the product's name suggests, each player was at one point in their career an All-Star.  New for 2016 are multi-player autographs and autographed game-used Relic cards.
+
New for 2018 are Relics and Framed Autographed Relics.

There appears to be a significant number deceased players -- some dead for over a decade.  It is unclear how Topps acquired these cards (i.e. whether these players signed for Topps before their death, or if these autographs were purchased by Topps from third-parties).

Set of the Month

1995 Studio is a 200-card set. In a radical, and not well received, departure for the brand, these cards were designed to resemble credit cards.

Just Released

2018 Bowman Draft is a 200-card set released December 14th -- delayed about a week. Each Hobby only Jumbo will contain three autographs, while Super Jumbo boxes will yield five.

2018 Topps Transcendent was released December 14th. Only 83 sets were produced.

Each factory set, which is packaged in a wooden case contains the following:

  • One 50-Card base set -- serial-numbered to 83 sets.
  • One 65-Card Origins Sketch Reproductions Set -- also serial-numbered to 83 sets.
  • One, one-of-one Origins Sketch Card or a one-of-one Hall of Fame Icons Sketch card.
  • 50 Autographs –- all serial-numbered to 25 copies or fewer.
  • One, one-of-one Mike Trout Through the Years Autograph.
  • One, one-of-one 1983 Auto Patch or one-of-one Cut Signature Relic Book Cards.
  • One, one-of-one 1952 Autographed Superfractors
  • One, one-of-one Oversized Cut Signature
  • One invitation to a VIP meet-and-greet with Mike Trout, February 22nd, 2019 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

2018 Panini Elite Extra Edition was released December 12th. As usual, the product focuses on recent draft picks and prospects, and can be seen as Panini's answer to Bowman Draft.

Each base card is serial-numbered to 999 copies. Each five-pack Hobby box will yield two serial-numbered parallels, two game-used memorabilia cards, and eight autographs.

2018 Topps Dynasty was released December 7th. As usual, each box will contain an encased autographed patch card serial-numbered to ten or fewer.

2018 Triple Threads is a 100-card set released November 7th -- about a month-and-a-half later than usual. Each seven-card Hobby pack will contain three base cards, two parallels, one triple Relic card serial-numbered to 36 copies or fewer, and an autograph or autographed relic serial-numbered to 99 copies or fewer.

2018 Panini Flawless is an 85-card set released October 31st. Each ten-card box will yield one jewel-encrusted base card or parallel, two game-used cards, and seven autographs.

2018 Topps High Tek was released on October 31, 2018. As usual, all cards are printed on acetate with multiple background pattern parallels. Each 40-card box will contain two autographs and four numbered base/insert cards.

2018 Topps Update was released October 22nd.

2018 Topps Five Star was released October 17th. All cards are autographed, and each box will contain two.

2018 Topps Gold Label is a 300-card set released October 12th. As with the Gold Label sets of the late-90s, the set features 100 different players on three different "Class" cards: 1, 2, and 3. Unfortunately, the holo-foil plastic cardstock the brand was known for in the 90s was not used -- regular paper stock was used instead.

Each box will yield one Framed Autograph.

New for 2018 are Relics and Framed Autographed Relics.

2018 Panini Contenders Draft Picks is a 50-card set focusing on prospects and draft picks, released October 5th. Most players are depicted in their college uniforms, and is licensed by The Collegiate Licensing Company.

The product does NOT have any active Major League players and as such, is not licensed by the MLB Players Association (even though Panini does have an MLBPA license).

Each pack contains an autograph.

2018 National Treasures was released by Panini September 26th. As usual, every card is autographed and/or a memorabilia card serial-numbered to 99 copies or fewer. Each eight-card box will contain one booklet card.

2018 Topps Heritage Minor League is a 220-card set released September 26th -- a month earlier than last year. Each 24-pack Hobby box will yield one relic and one autograph.

2018 Bowman Chrome will be released September 26th with a 100-card base set supplemented by a 100-card Prospects set. Each 12-pack Hobby box will yield a pair of autographs.

For the second consecutive year, HTA Choice boxes are available which contain three autographs.

2018 Bowman High Tek is a 56-card set released September 12th. All cards are printed on acetate with multiple background variations. Unlike the the previous year's product, a small selection of "true" rookie cards are included -- however, curiously, some players eligible to be RCs (e.g. Ronald Acuna, Jr. and Gleyber Torres) are still Prospects. Each ten-card box will yield four autographs and a parallel.

2018 Topps Luminaries was released September 7th. Each box contains one card, an autograph serial-numbered to 15 copies or fewer.

We estimate that only 625 12-box cases will be produced -- an increase of 100 cases from the previous year's product.

2018 Topps Diamond Icons was released August 29th. Each eight-card box will contain: one Relic, seven autographs, and a pair of autographed Relics. Every other box will yield a cut signature. All cards are serial-numbered to 25 copies or fewer.
