Set of the Month

2003 Flair is a 135 card set, released in two separate series. The first series was released in June 2003, consists of the first 125 cards. The first 90 cards feature veterans, while the next 35 cards make up the "Future Fame" subset, which are all short-printed and serial-numbered to 500 copies each. The final ten cards (numbered 126-135) were randomly seeded into packs of Fleer Rookies & Greats which was distributed in December 2003. Each of these update cards featured a top prospect and were also serial numbered to 500 copies.

Each Flair 20-pack Flair Hobby box yielded four game-used cards, one Future Fame card, a Flair Collection parallel, and an over-sized Sweet Swatch box-topper.

Notable rookies (all included in the short-printed Future Fame subset) include Hideki Matsui, Chien-Ming Wang, Shane Victorino, and Jeremy Bonderman. Rookie cards of Brandon Webb, Rickie Weeks and Delmon Young were included in Rookies & Greats packs.

Each 24-pack Hobby should yield one autograph or Relic card, one over-sized box topper, eight short-printed base cards, and nine inserts. Each High Number factory set will include one on-card autograph.

2021 Topps Tier One was released May 5th. As usual, all cards are either autographs or relics and there is no base set in the traditional sense. Each three-card box will contain two autographs and a relic.

2021 Diamond Kings was released by Panini April 28th. The base set is 170 cards with the last 70 short-printed. Each Hobby pack will contain a card from one of fifteen insert sets. In addition, each 12-pack Hobby box will yield 12 inserts, three parallels, one game-used memorabilia card, and an autograph.

2021 Bowman is a 100-card set, supplemented by a 150-card Prospects set, tentatively scheduled for release April 28th. Each Hobby box will yield one autograph, 19 inserts, and one Atomic Refractor. Hobby Jumbo boxes will contain three autographs.

2021 Topps Tribute was released April 7th. As usual, each three-card pack will include either an autograph or a Relic with half of packs yielding a Relic and half either an autograph or an autographed Relic. Two of the Relics in each Hobby box will be multi-swatch.

2021 Topps Definitive Collection was released March 31st, about a month earlier than last year. An all "hit" product, each eight-card box will yield six on-card autographs and two Relics.

2021 Topps Heritage is a 500-card set released February 26th, the last 100 cards are short-printed. In keeping with the brand's aesthetic, the design is based on the 1972 Topps set. Each Hobby box will, as usual, yield a relic, an autograph or an autographed relic.

2021 Topps Opening Day was released March 19th. As usual, the base set is a rehash of 220 cards from the Topps flagship. Each pack will yield one insert -- which are original to the product.

2021 Topps Inception is a 100-card set released exclusively to Hobby outlets on March 17th. Each seven-card box will contain four base cards, two parallels, and an autograph.

2021 Donruss is a 264-card set released by Panini America on March 12th. Each Hobby box will yield three autographs/game-used cards.

2021 Topps is a 660-card set released in two equal series of 330 cards -- 40 cards smaller than the previous year's set. Series One was issued the week of February 10th. 2021 marks the brand's 70th Anniversary, and just like in 2001 and 2011, there are plenty of 70th Anniversary tie-ins. Also, for the first time since 2015, the base set has a border.

As usual, each 24-pack Hobby box will yield either an autograph or a Relic card while Hobby-exclusive jumbo boxes will yield an autograph, a game-used Relic, and a manufactured "relic."

It is believed that, based on the stated insertion ratios, the production of Series One retail packs is nearly double that of 2020.

2020 Panini Elite Extra Edition was released January 6th, 2021. As usual, the product focuses on recent draft picks and prospects, and can be seen as Panini's answer to Bowman Draft.

Each base card is serial-numbered to 999 copies. Each five-pack Hobby box will yield two game-used memorabilia cards and eight autographs. FOr the first time in years, a stripped-down version is being released for the retail market.

2020 Bowman's Best was released December 23rd and consists of a 70-card base set supplemented by a 30-card "Top Prospects" subset. Each pack will yield one Refractor parallel, and each 12-pack Hobby box will have four autographs, nine inserts, and an Atomic Refractor.
