Set of the Month

2003 Fleer Avant is a 90-card set released in September 3, 2003. Each base card is printed using a six-color printing process and overlayed with a matte "frame." The set consists of a 10-card retired player subset (cards #66-75 each serial-numbered to 799 copies) and 15 rookies (cards #76-90, serial-numbered to 699 copies).

Each 18-pack Hobby box promises seven serial-numbered cards, an autograph, and a game-used card.

Previous Sets of the Month

Just released

2015 Panini Cooperstown is a 100-card set released the week of July, 22. The brand returns after a one year absence, but is formatted similarly to the previous year's Hall of Fame 75th Anniversary product. Each 12-card box will yield two autographs.
2015 Topps Allen & Ginter's is a 350-card set, scheduled for release the week of July 22nd. This is billed as the "Tenth Anniversary" of the popular product, although this is not accurate. While 2015 is the tenth "TANG" set, Allen & Ginter's tenth anniversary will be in 2016 -- ten years after the release of 2006 Topps Allen & Ginter's. Nonetheless, there are a number of Tenth Anniversary commemorations in the 2015 edition. As usual, each 24-pack Hobby box will include three of the following: Autographs, Relics, Rip Cards, or A&G Originals.

The set is notable for having the first certified autographs of Ichiro in a Topps product -- not to mention the first Ichiro Topps cards of any kind since 2012. The product will also include autographs of the cast of the Rocky films, signed in character, as well as autographs of selected 2015 NBA draft picks. Also, for the first time all 350 base cards were printed in equal quantities; however, the corresponding Mini parallels will have SPs .

For the first time since this brand's inception, there are no retired Major League players in the product.

2015 Bowman Inception was released the week of July 8, 2015. As with the previous year's version of the product, there is no "base" set in the traditional sense. Each five card pack contains four autographs and an autographed relic card.

2015 Panini Elite is a 200-card set released July 1st. This marks the first standalone Donruss/Panini Elite product in ten years. Among the highlights is a 14-card subset featuring current players in their collegiate uniforms.

Each 16-pack Hobby box will yield four autographs and/or game-used cards.

2015 Stadium Club is a 300-card set, released the week of June 24th. The 2015 edition was reconfigured after the moderately successful 2014 relaunch. The dreaded mini-boxes are gone, the price point has been lowered, and the base set has been expanded by 100 cards. Each 16-pack Hobby box will yield two autographs.

2015 Topps Series Two is the second 350-card installment of the annual Topps Baseball flagship. It is was released June 17th.

2015 Finest is a 111-card set released the week of June 10. For the first time in five years, the base set will feature short-printed base cards and each six-pack mini box will yield an autograph.

2015 Topps Archives is a 330-card set released June 10th, and based the designs of the 1957, 1976, and 1983 Topps Baseball sets. The last 30 cards are short-printed (see below). Each 24-pack Hobby box will yield two autographs.

Originally, according to Topps' original product solicitations, Archives was advertised as having a 300 card base set with no short-prints. It wasn't until almost a week before the product's release, buried in the fine-print of the official checklist and long after pre-orders had been paid for by dealers and collectors, that there was any mention from Topps of the existence of any additional short-printed base cards.

While in previous years, Topps Archives has had short-printed base cards, they had all been previously announced by Topps either in the product's solicitations ("sell-sheets") and/or in press releases to The Hobby media. Also, in 2012, 2013, and 2014 Topps Archives the short-prints were attainable -- usually around 40-50 SPs per set and falling at the rate of six to eight per Hobby box. According to early reports, the odds of finding one of the 30 short-printed base cards in 2015 Archives is 1:70/packs, and the estimated production of each is around 500 copies.

2015 Topps Tier One was released exclusively to Hobby outlets May 20, 2015. As with previous iterations of this product, there is no "base set" in the conventional sense. All cards are either Relics and/or autographs.

Each three-card box will contain two autographs and one Relic. All cards are serial-numbered to 399 copies or less.

2015 Panini Prizm is a 200-card set released May 13, 2015. Each 12-pack Hobby box is expected to yield 2 autographs, 9 Prizm parallels (3 of which will be serial-numbered), and 6 inserts.

2015 Bowman is a 150-card set supplemented by a 150-card Prospects "insert" set, tentatively scheduled for release April 29th. It was announced that the 2015 Las Vegas Industry Summit that, for the first time since 1999, Bowman will be released in two series. However, Topps has made any indication that this product will be marketed as a "first series."

Each Hobby box will contain at least one autograph and each Jumbo box three.

2015 Diamond Kings was released by Panini April, 29th. This is the first Diamond Kings product since 2005 Diamond Kings, and is structured similarly. Also, this is first card set released by Panini/Donruss-Playoff since 2005 to feature Babe Ruth. Each 12-pack Hobby box will yield two framed and serial-numbered parallels and two autographed game-used cards.

Please note that, as of the product's street date, Panini has yet to issue a final checklist for this product.

2015 Topps Gypsy Queen is a 350-card set released on April 15th, 2015. As with previous year's versions of the product, the last 50 cards in the base set are short-printed. Each pack will contain one mini-sized parallel and each 24-pack Hobby box is expected to yield two autographs and two Relic cards. Each Hobby box will come packed with a special 10-card box containing exclusive mini-sized variation cards.

2015 Panini Stars & Stripes is a 100-card USA Baseball-licensed set released April 10, 2015. The set features current prospects and minor leaguers in their USA Baseball uniforms. Each 24-pack Hobby box should yield four autographs/game-used cards.

2015 Topps Museum Collection is a 100-card set released April 10. Each pack will contain either an autograph or a relic. Each four-pack box will yield the following: A Canvas Collection insert; A Jumbo Relic; A Quad Relic; An Autograph, and; An Autographed Relic

2015 Topps Tribute is a 100-card set released the week of March 18th, 2015, but recalled by Topps a day later. Each pack contained one serial-numbered autographed or game-used "Relic," and it is a quality-control issue with the autographs that caused Topps to recall the product.

Shortly after the product's release, collectors began to complain that many of the autographs were coming out of the pack either scratched or smeared. In a press release, Topps blamed the issue on "UV contamination" and announced a recall of the product.

As part of the recall, collectors who have any remaining unopened boxes or cases of 2015 Topps Tribute have until March 27th, to return them to their local Hobby dealer for a full refund. In addition, collectors who already opened a pack of Tribute and received a damaged autograph, have until June 30th to exchange their cards with Topps for replacement.

It is currently unclear what (if anything) Topps plans on doing with the recalled 2015 Topps Tribute base cards, parallels, or Relics.

2015 Topps Opening Day is a 200-card set released March 18, 2015. As usual, the base set is a stripped down rendition of the 2015 Topps flagship set. Each pack will contain one insert.

2015 Donruss is a 245-card set released on March 11. With a bizzare design loosely based on the 1985 Donruss and 1987 Donruss sets, each 24-pack Hobby box will yield at least one autograph and two game-used memorabilia cards. 95 base cards are short-printed with the final 50 cards done in the style of the 1981 Donruss set.
