It was my wife that encouraged me to start collecting baseball cards again. I had started collecting in the mid seventies but as I grew older and as with most things collecting had to get pushed to the back burner. Fast forward to 2018 . My wife and I went to a yard sale down the street and I found a shoe box full of old cards , that had been shown some love threw the years. I paid the lady 5 bucks for the box and we started home. Three hours latter my wife asked if I was still playing with those cards. And in a loving way I explain that I was not playing but sorting and would pull out cards that I had growing up and tell stories about them . Well I most have done a real good job . Because the next thing I know she telling me to check out places on the inter net or when we go to a store she always ask if this store has any cards and I would pick up a few here a few there, you guys all know how it goes . I do not know when it happened or how it happened but somehow I ended up with one of the spare bed rooms as the baseball card room . I am smart enough to know that when something like this falls in your lap, do not ask questions just go with it. I collect sets but my main interest is putting together a collections of Topps Atlanta Braves cards from 66 till the present . Yea a person could buy all the cards to fill the checklist in a afternoon on ebay but where the fun in that ? I enjoy trading with people on some of the web sites or going to flea markets or yard sells just to see what I can find. I found this site through a link and started exploring .I am amazed about the amount of information here and the fact that it is accurate . The people here have done a fantastic job. I am looking into grading cards , Industry standards , How to grade ? The inns and out of grading How someone can go about getting certified as a recognized grader. Maybe pursuing grading as a career. One last thing, Have any of you ever notice that when someone finds out you collect baseball cards the first three question they ask are 1. How many cards do you have ? 2. What is the oldest card you have ? and 3. What is the highest value of any cards you have ? Thanks and keep a rip'n and a flip'n
