1989 Score

Description

1989 Score Baseball is a 660-card set. Like 1988 Score cards feature six distinctive inner-border colors on the front and are divided into 110 card color groups. One of the few 1989 sets that did NOT include Ken Griffey, Jr. (he was in the Rookie/Traded set), '89 Score did include rookie cards of Craig Biggio, Randy Johnson, Gary Sheffield, and John Smoltz.

Young Superstars Series One

The 1989 Score Young Superstars Series One is a 42-card insert set, seeded at the rate of one per rack pack. As with the previous year's set, a second series of 42 Young Superstars was issued exclusively as a factory set later in 1989. Both series have the same design and both have a glossy coating applied to the fronts. However, the Series One cards and blue and salmon colored while the Series Two cards are orange and purple.

A Year to Remember Magic Motion Trivia

As licensing requirements mandated something other than cards be included, each pack contained one of 56 lenticular "Magic Motion" trivia cards. Each card gives a synopsis of that season's highlights beginning with 1932 and continuing until 1987.

It should be noted that, while there are players listed in the checklist below, none of the cards have the player's image.
